They are beautifully engraved, well-appointed double guns usually having nice wood, checkering, and handling characteristics. So, what makes one worth more than the other? Details that contribute to value are condition, unusual features, originality, all factory parts, and desirability to the present-day shooting community. These are all strong factors in determining value. This fine Parker DHE 12ga., sn217163 built in 1926, is a gun that has all the above factors in its factory original configuration. Built on a 1 ½ frame with 28” Titanic Steel barrels factory choked SK/M (.007 constriction right barrel, .022 left barrel), this gun was purpose-built as a lightweight upland bird gun, weighing just 6lbs. 15oz.! You will look long and hard to find a Parker 12ga. weighing under 7lbs., especially with 28” barrels! Additionally, the gun is in superb, “as found” condition retaining 80% factory case color, 99% factory blue, the original factory wood and finish, with strong checkering, perfect screws, mirror perfect bores, superb wood-to-metal fit, and still retaining the original skeleton steel buttplate. Check out the stock dimensions listed below and you will find that the stock dimensions are very high, shootable dimensions for the modern bird hunter. When comparing one Parker to another, you will rarely find a gun that has all these desirable features in one package. The mechanics are superb as well, with crisp triggers, strong well-timed ejectors, barrels tight on breech face with lever well right of center…all systems functioning well. The engraving is still sharp and clear as is the lettering on the barrels. This gun has everything you could want in an upland gun…factory choked for flushing birds, lightweight, high stock dimensions, and tons of original factory case color and blue. Additionally, we have priced the gun to sell quickly, just in time for the bird season and the vintage shoots at your club.
