Parker VH 16 Gauge - “O” FRAME, 6LBS., 2 3/4”, CERTIFIED, vintage firearms inc
Description: General Specs: Parker, Year 1906, 16 Gauge, 6lbs, Chokes F/F, LOP 14 1/16", DAH 2 3/4", DAC 1 5/8" Serial Number: 136016 Let’s face it…anybody that has handled many 16ga. Parkers recognize the amazing difference between one built on the “0” frame, or 20ga. frame, compared to the same gun built on the standard #1 frame. Most #1 framed 16ga. guns weigh well over 6 1/2lbs. while this gorgeous gun weighs just 6lbs. That is more than ½ pound difference! Balanced perfectly on the hinge pin, the handling characteristics are notable, and at the end of a long day afield, YOU WILL KNOW THE DIFFERENCE. This Parker, sn136016 built in 1906, is in the condition most like to see when buying a classic Parker, ie. all factory original metal finishes with about 94% blue on the barrels, 50% case color on the action, and about 40% charcoal blue on the trigger guard. The factory original wood has been restored here in our shop, where we lifted dents and scratches replenishing the wood finish with a hand rubbed Truoil finish. The checkering is clean and factory original as well, and the butt terminates in the factory dogshead buttplate. THERE ARE A LOT OF PARKER VH 16GA. GUNS FOR SALE, BUT ONLY A HANDFUL BUILT ON THE 20 GAUGE FRAME, AND THEY ALWAYS BRING A PREMIUM. So, how do you know which one to buy? IT IS EASY TO BUY THE WRONG GUN WITH COSTLY ISSUES. At Vintage Firearms, Inc. (VFI) we inspect each gun before purchase (we NEVER buy a lemon), and on this gun we stripped the action to the smallest parts, Ultrasonic clean and scrub all parts to shiny metal, inspect all parts for integrity and function, lubricated and reassemble, making this a VFI CERTIFIED GUNS, a $275 service in our shop. VFI CERTIFIED GUNS have a 90-day mechanical warranty. Early American 16ga. guns were short chambered for 2 9/16” shells. PRESENTLY IT IS DIFFICULT, IF NOT IMPOSSIBLE, TO FIND 2 ½” 16GA. SHELLS. BECAUSE OF THIS, VFI GUNSMITHS HAVE CAREFULLY MEASURED THE BARREL WALL THICKNESS AHEAD OF THE CHAMBER, HAVE LENGTHENED THE CHAMBERS TO 2 ¾” AND EXTENDED THE FORCING CONES TO 1 ½” TAPERS SO THAT YOU CAN SHOOT MODERN 2 ¾” FIELD LOADS THROUGH OUR GUNS. This is a $360 service in our shop. Modern chambers and long forcing cones make for softer recoil and better patterns. Other important factors for a smart purchase are the condition of the metal, screws, wood, and bores. The barrels have mirror bores, tight ribs, and fit tight on the hinge pin and breech face, with the top lever to the right of center. This gun is ready to go! We provide the most comprehensive photography and specifications in the marketplace, information that allows you to make a good choice. Just remember, nowhere is it more apparent than in the gun world…you get what you pay for! You want an upland gun you can rely on. Buy one that is field ready and can safely shoot modern, available field loads. If you buy this Parker, you will have nothing left to do but take her bird hunting. What a great Parker you can own by acting now! If you want the chokes altered, we can do that in our shop within 3 days of purchase…no waiting. SEE SPECIFICATIONS BELOW. Thanks for looking!
