Parker VH 20 Gauge – 28” LM/F, ULTRALIGHT 5LBS. 14OZ., vintage firearms inc
General Specs: Parker, Year 1927, 20 Gauge, 5lb 14oz, Chokes LM/F, LOP 14 3/8", DAH 2 9/16", DAC 1 1/2"
Serial Number: 227842
The Parker is the most noted vintage American double shotgun in the world and has more fans than all the other major makers. They are wonderful guns with a classic look and were made in high numbers, about 250,000 guns in all. When looking for a lightweight Parker for upland birds or a casual day on the sporting clays course you will see the Parker VH 20ga. offered for sale quite often, so they are not a rare gun. In fact, they made about 10,000 of them in all. So, how do you know which one to buy. Most all you see have been altered, worn thin of finish from hard use, or stocks cut or replaced with after-market wood, screws buggered, etc. It is rare to find a VH 20 gauge in excellent condition with factory original case color, superb mechanics, and factory original stock length with a dog’s head buttplate and modern shooting dimensions (see tables below). THOSE are the guns that are the most sought after, that will gain in value the most over the years and bring the most pride of ownership. This Parker, sn227842 made in 1927, is one that retains all its FACTORY ORIGINAL PARTS, with 45% vivid factory case color, 100% rust blue, excellent screws, perfect mirror bores, and a stock that is factory original ending in the factory dog’s head butt plate. The wood has nice figure for a VH grade gun, with excellent checkering and nary a split or crack anywhere, and great shooting dimensions with a new, hand-rubbed oil finish. With the most desirable 28" barrels choked LM/F, weighing a superlight 5lbs. 14oz. and balanced dead on the hinge pin, it is the perfect upland gun that can also knock down some clay targets when asked to do so. Most Parker 20ga. guns weigh closer to 6 ½ pounds, so this is an exceptionally light Parker 20-gauge gun. The barrels are tight on the hinge pin and breech face and have tight ribs. This is a VFI CERTIFIED gun, meaning we stripped the entire action to its smallest part, Ultrasonic cleaned all parts and the action in our Ultrasonic cleaner, brushed all parts shiny clean, inspected all for integrity and function, lubricated and reassembled (a $325 value). The gun is like new inside with a 90-day mechanical warranty. The screws are excellent, the wood-to-metal fit is superb, and the trigger guard has been reblued to 100%. THIS IS A GREAT LOOKING PARKER! All these features come together to make this an investment quality Parker that will continue to gain value as you enjoy its use. The case color is hard to photograph. There is no rust or pitting on the gun anywhere. You will not be disappointed in this gun, and it is affordably priced. It is very difficult to find a Parker with all of these great features combined. Thanks for looking!
