Parker VHE 20 Gauge – BEAVERTAIL, ENGLISH GRIP vintage firearms inc
Description: General Specs: Parker, Year 1936, 20 Gauge, 6lbs 7oz, Chokes IC/M, LOP 15", DAH 2", DAC 1 1/2" Serial Number: 240003 In the world of Parker shotguns, the VH grade 20ga. is a relatively common gun with over 10,000 produced, and can be acquired for a modest sum of money. A small number of VH 20ga. guns were ordered with rare and desirable features that make them unique in the collecting and shooting world and therefore much more valuable. Another key factor in determining desirability and value, is factory original condition. There are few Parker guns to be found that have not been refinished or altered in some significant way. And the remaining key factor in determining value is desirable features like stock style and dimensions, weight, balance, chokes, and mechanical condition. This Remington made Parker VHE 20ga., sn240003 made in 1936, is one of the very rare and desirable Parkers as it was special ordered with a factory English style stock, beavertail forend, and ejectors. Only 163 Parker VH grade guns were made with beavertail forends IN ALL GAUGES, less than 1/5 of them 20ga. guns, or about 33 guns total. Only about 500 VH 20ga. guns had straight stocks, and only about 1700 had ejectors. How many had a combination of straight stock, beavertail, and ejectors is anybody’s guess, but certainly fewer than 25 or so. That makes this a very rare Parker. Figure in that this gun retains 75% factory case color, 93% factory barrel blue, perfect screws and wood-to-metal fit, and beautifully figured wood that Remington Parkers are known for with nearly all the factory finish remaining, and you have quite a valuable and desirable Parker. BEST OF ALL IF YOU ARE ON THE TALL SIDE, THIS GUN SHIPPED FROM THE FACTORY WITH 15” LOP TO THE ORIGINAL BUTT PLATE AND GREAT MODERN STOCK DIMENSIONS! What a great upland or clays gun we have here! If you study the photos and know your Parker guns, you will see that this gun has the reinforced forend lug that will always be found on Parker guns with a factory beavertail forearm. We have also taken photos of the stampings under the trigger guard showing the factory stamped serial number and grade, with a “B” stamp indicating beavertail. The underside of the trigger guard tang is shown in the photos documenting the factory serial number stamped in the proper location for a factory English gripped gun. These photos document beyond a doubt that this gun shipped in the same configuration she is in today. Remington records available to the Parker Collectors Association do not provide information regarding stock configuration, chokes, or butt treatment, as stated in the accompanying PGCA documentation letter, and therefore no Remington era Parker can be documented as to stock style or dimensions in any available publication. THE GUN SPEAKS FOR ITSELF AND THE PHOTOS SHOW A FACTORY CORRECT, SPECIAL ORDER PARKER. The gun is in perfect mechanical condition, with strong well-timed ejectors, excellent screws and checkering, mirror bores, and 26” Vulcan Steel barrels factory choked at IC/M, barrels tight on the hinge pin and breech face, all weighing 6lbs. 7oz. This is the kind of Parker shooters and collectors are always hoping to find. Offered at a great price for the valuable options and condition, you are not likely to see another like it in the next 10 years. Don’t hesitate or she will be in somebody else’s gun safe and not yours. Thanks for looking!
