The Perazzi MX8 SC3 is a classic example of the Italian maker’s legendary competition over/under platform, combining world-renowned handling characteristics with refined engraving and deluxe woodwork. Introduced during the golden era of Perazzi production, the MX8 quickly became one of the most dominant target shotguns in the world and remains highly respected today among serious shooters and collectors alike.
This particular example, produced in 1967, is an early MX8 SC3 configured with 28" barrels choked Modified (.018") and Full (.034"), making it especially well suited for driven game shooting, live birds, sporting applications, or traditional trap-style presentations. Weighing 7 pounds 9.3 ounces, the gun balances beautifully while maintaining enough weight for a smooth and deliberate swing. The matted vent rib with white front bead provides the clean sight picture expected of a classic Perazzi competition gun.
Built on Perazzi’s famous low-profile receiver, the shotgun features the company’s signature detachable trigger group system, allowing rapid replacement or servicing of the trigger assembly in the field. The gun is equipped with a single non-selective trigger, ejectors, and non-automatic safety. The detachable trigger system is one of the defining features that helped establish the MX8 as one of the premier competition shotguns ever built.
This example remains in very good overall condition, showing only faint wear typical of careful age and use. The bores are clear, the trigger is crisp, the action is smooth and locks up tight, and the ejectors remain strong and properly timed.
The coin-finished receiver features elegant rose and scroll engraving, identified as Perazzi SC3 Engraving Pattern No. 1. The engraving was executed by Amadeo, whose signature appears near the trigger guard, adding additional collector interest and showcasing the hand-crafted nature of early Perazzi production.
The gun is fitted with blued steel barrels featuring a ventilated mid-rib for improved barrel cooling and reduced weight.
The shotgun wears a beautifully figured deluxe walnut Monte Carlo stock with straight grip and matching game-style forend. Fine checkering remains strong throughout the grip and forend, while a brown ventilated recoil pad completes the classic period competition aesthetic. The stock dimensions, including the high Monte Carlo comb, provide a fast and natural sighting plane ideal for driven targets and sporting use.
Please refer to the photographs for a detailed view of the overall condition.
This is an exceptionally attractive early Perazzi MX8 that combines the legendary durability and handling of the MX8 platform with refined SC3 engraving and deluxe wood. Elegant yet highly functional, it would serve equally well as a driven game gun, sporting shotgun, or collectible example of one of Perazzi’s most iconic competition models.
