Consecutively numbered pair of Piotti Monaco 3 sidelock ejector guns, 20 bore and 28 bore with 29 3/8” barrels, both built on frames scaled to their respective gauges and with 2 ¾” chambers. Square bar actions are pinless sidelocks, coin finish, single non-selective triggers, and non-automatic safeties. Engraving is Italian rose and scroll with full coverage to include the carved fences. Barrels are of demiblock construction with Purdey double underbolt and fixed chokes. Forearm latches are Anson pushrod.
The straight English stocks are to the fences, featuring satin oil finish, drop points, silver ovals on the toe lines, and inlaid gold Piotti crests on both forearms. Hand cross section is diamond-shaped on both. Checkering is supremely well executed, featuring point patterns with mullered front/rear borders; skip-line checkered butt. The 20 bore gun balances approximately 5/8” forward of the hinge pin while the 28 bore balances on the hinge.
Mechanical condition is perfect, as the 20 bore shows very low round count while the 28 bore appears as unfired. Both are tight on face and ejectors in time. Stock finish shows very few of only the lightest handling marks. Barrel bluing is strong on both, showing only faintest of thinning behind the muzzles from (ostensibly) being put into a slip a few times.
