PIOTTI Monaco Matched Pair 12Ga. 28” SLE Cased w/Accessories
The History: This true matched pair of Piotti Monaco 12 gauge Sidelock Ejector game guns was made in the mid 1970s by the original Piotti brothers who hand crafted every piece of their outstanding guns in very limited numbers, just as their family continues to do today in Gardone, Italy. They had them exquisitely border engraved in a very fine vine and floral pattern and each gun is signed by the legendary Italian Master Engraver, “inc. Patelli W. 76”. This pair was made to order for an Italian collector/investor who never shot them. I acquired them in Italy in 1996 and had the Piotti family adjust them slightly to fit my requirements for driven bird shooting.
The Set: This fine matched pair of sidelock game guns have 28” barrels with finely cross filed and tapered game ribs, fixed chokes of 3/10 and 7/10 opened slightly. Chambers are 2-3/4" They have straight grip English stocks with splinter forends made of 4X Turkish walnut with very fine and tasteful checkering and checkered butts. Double triggers (front hinged) and automatic ejectors, automatic safeties and gold line cocking indicators. The stocks measure 14-1/2” from the front trigger to the center of the checkered butt, with about 2-1/4” of drop at heel and 1-1/2” at the comb, slightly cast off for right hand shooter. They each weigh 6 pounds, 10 ounces. Each gun is inlaid numbered in gold in three places and each forend has the exquisite gold inlaid Piotti initial shield with my initials. Makers new gun certificate with all specifications were reissued to me in 1996 and are included with the sale along with the original studio photo set.
The case & accessories: Finest custom made Italian leather two gun case fitted to these guns with Piotti flannel socks for each gun. The case contains all original and complete accessories including two pairs of Piotti snap caps, Piotti oil bottle, cleaning rod with attachments, and an extra set of numbered and pre fitted springs and pins for each gun (a rare and expensive accessory).
The condition: Both guns remain in perfect mechanical condition showing very little use for driven shooting. The stocks remain very fine condition with just a few scattered handling marks, no cracks, splits or major dents. The checkering remains sharp and very finely done. The barrels show some blue thinning and a few handing marks, but no damage or dents. The satin coin finished receivers show only a couple smudges that could buff out but really do not detract. No repairs have ever been needed to either gun and the entire set remains in fine condition.
The Price: $75,000 for the complete outfit.
The Value: The replacement cost for a comparable cased bespoke matched pair of Piotti Monaco SLE game guns and accessories would be more than double my asking price and there would be a considerable wait to get them.

PIOTTI Monaco Matched Pair 12Ga. 28” SLE Cased w/Accessories
The History: This true matched pair of Piotti Monaco 12 gauge Sidelock Ejector game guns was made in the mid 1970s by the original Piotti brothers who hand crafted every piece of their outstanding guns in very limited numbers, just as their family continues to do today in Gardone, Italy. They had them exquisitely border engraved in a very fine vine and floral pattern and each gun is signed by the legendary Italian Master Engraver, “inc. Patelli W. 76”. This pair was made to order for an Italian collector/investor who never shot them. I acquired them in Italy in 1996 and had the Piotti family adjust them slightly to fit my requirements for driven bird shooting.
The Set: This fine matched pair of sidelock game guns have 28” barrels with finely cross filed and tapered game ribs, fixed chokes of 3/10 and 7/10 opened slightly. Chambers are 2-3/4" They have straight grip English stocks with splinter forends made of 4X Turkish walnut with very fine and tasteful checkering and checkered butts. Double triggers (front hinged) and automatic ejectors, automatic safeties and gold line cocking indicators. The stocks measure 14-1/2” from the front trigger to the center of the checkered butt, with about 2-1/4” of drop at heel and 1-1/2” at the comb, slightly cast off for right hand shooter. They each weigh 6 pounds, 10 ounces. Each gun is inlaid numbered in gold in three places and each forend has the exquisite gold inlaid Piotti initial shield with my initials. Makers new gun certificate with all specifications were reissued to me in 1996 and are included with the sale along with the original studio photo set.
The case & accessories: Finest custom made Italian leather two gun case fitted to these guns with Piotti flannel socks for each gun. The case contains all original and complete accessories including two pairs of Piotti snap caps, Piotti oil bottle, cleaning rod with attachments, and an extra set of numbered and pre fitted springs and pins for each gun (a rare and expensive accessory).
The condition: Both guns remain in perfect mechanical condition showing very little use for driven shooting. The stocks remain very fine condition with just a few scattered handling marks, no cracks, splits or major dents. The checkering remains sharp and very finely done.
