This is a beautiful James Purdey & Sons 7-pin sidelock side-by-side shotgun manufactured in 1884. It features the desirable Purdey 3rd bite, assisted opening action, lifter extractors, and fine rose & scroll engraving on the locks and receiver.
The 28" barrels are newer fitted and proved for 1? oz shot, currently choked Full & Improved Cylinder. The checkered walnut stock has been carefully refreshed with a fine oiled finish and measures 15¼" LOP over a pad.
Condition is very fine overall. The barrels retain 99% finish with some pitting beneath the forearm. Stocks are very fine with sharp checkering. Legends and engraving remain crisp (with only slight softness on the underside). The gun is tight on face and mechanically excellent.
