Pair of sidelock ejector shotguns with the number 2 gun of pair with an extra barrel set. The original barrels are 26" nitro proved round blacked steel barrels with 2-3/4" chambers, choked improved cylinder and improved modified and fitted with a matte narrow tapered solid Churchill rib. The extra barrel set for the number 2 gun (2/B) by Purdey is from 1958 are 30" nitro proved round blacked steel barrels with 2-3/4" chambers, choked full & Improved full and fitted with a matte narrow tapered solid Churchill rib. The original barrels are roll marked 'J. PURDEY & SONS. AUDLEY HOUSE. SOUTH AUDLEY STREET. LONDON.' on the left barrel and 'MADE OF SIR JOSEPH WHITWORTH'S FLUID PRESSED STEEL.' on the right barrel. The new barrel is set is roll marked 'J. PURDEY & SONS' on the left barrel and 'AUDLEY HOUSE, SOUTH AUDLEY STREET, LONDON, ENGLAND.' on the right barrel The action bodies are adorned with traditional rose bouquets and scrolls with case color hardened finish. Both the right and left lockplates are engraved 'J. PURDEY & SONS', blacked, engraved top levers with "1" and "2" and "SAFE" in gold on top tang ahead of engraved and checkered slide safeties with both sides of the thumbpieces being checkered. The actions are fitted with double triggers protected by blacked and engraved trigger guards, disc-set strikers, cocking indicators and automatic safeties. Nicely figured reddish-brown walnut stocks with point pattern checkering with borders, round knob pistol grips, and engraved stock ovals - 'H.A.S' in script. The round knob grips are supported by engraved bottom straps with serial numbers. Splinter fore-ends with matching checkering, engraved escutcheons and Anson style push button releases.14-1/4" LOP's to leather covered recoil pads. The shotguns are presented in the maker's oak and leather trunk case.
