JAMES PURDEY PIGEON GUN - MADE IN THE GOLDEN PERIOD OF 1930 - ORIGINAL OAK AND LEATHER CASE FULLY LOADED
Description: Rarely do you have the opportunity to purchase a James Purdey Pigeon Gun from the best period of English Gunmaking with the original oak and leather case. This 12 gauge live pigeon gun was made in 1930 as confirmed by the Factory letter. The gun has all the correct features of a Purdey Pigeon Gun; sideclips, third fastener, Prince of Wales Grip, modern stock stock dimensions, 1 1/4 OZ proof for heavy shot charges and 30" barrels. Gun remains in outstanding condition; tight on face, no loose ribs (barrels ring like a musical instrument), screw slots in excellent condition and no cracks to wood. Well figured wood with very nice mineral streaks. Checking and engraving remains sharp. Leather covered recoil pad. Mirror "in proof" bores measuring .733 with the right barrel constriction at 26/1000 and the right at 35/1000. These choke constrictions are considered to be most optimal. Chambers are 2 3/4". The original oak and leather case is fully loaded with; spare firing pins in round jar, cleaning rod with jags and brushes, oil bottle and snap caps engraved with the Purdey name. The case is in solid condition. Includes Purdey Factory Letter. The stock dimensions are as follows. LOP - 14 1/2", drop at comb 1 3/8", drop at heel - 2". There is a slight amount of cast off.
