We have and can provide certification from Purdey of the authenticity of this gun.
This gun was built for Baron Alphonse de Rothschild, the richest of the French Rothschilds and the richest man in the world for a very long time.
Note: Has Light front trigger, and large trigger guard, and Locks jointed into action
The Baron likely kept this gun at his Paris mansion that is now the American Embassy. This as with all firearms owned by Baron Rothschild is steeped in French, German, and American history.
Our shop did the cleanup for this gun and we have many other photos available for viewing upon request. The Sterling Silver Monogram of Alphonse de Rothschild is inlaid into the bottom of the stock.
Two identical guns were built but the location of #1 is unknown. Although there are dings in this Damascus barrel it truly is a work of art and a part of French History in the late 1800s. You will see dents in the Damascus barrels as this gun has had a rough history. The dents may have been done by Baron Alphonse de Rothschild or at some other point in its life. Because of the condition of the barrels this gun probably should not be fired. However, it is an unbelievable opportunity to own a shotgun owned by the richest man in the world for many years.
