Purdey Bar in Wood Hammer Gun 12 Ga, a James Purdey & Son SxS hammer gun in the Bar-in-Wood tradition, fitted with 30-inch Damascus barrels and a traditional top-lever action. This historic English double embodies Purdey workmanship with a straight English stock and a solid rib, delivering classic hammer-gun balance and styling for discerning collectors and traditional game shooting.
This particular gun was completed on 28 April 1881 and is No. 2 of a pair of game guns made for the Duke of Devonshire. In 1911 it was sold to Captain Greaton of the Royal British Navy. Damascus barrels 002 (Right) and 018 (Left). A line on the underside is visible in pictures but has been attended to by stock finisher. The gun has recently been serviced in the United Kingdom and the gunsmith marks are still proud and checkering sharp.
