With the Beesley self-opening action, meticulous hand fitting of metal and wood, the Purdey is the zenith of the London gun trade. Here we have a rare 16b BUILT IN 1894, FULLY DOCUMENTED BY PURDEY OF LONDON WITH A FACTORY LETTER. This gun, sn14866 was built in 1894 and rebarreled by Purdey with nitro proofed steel barrels. I was informed by Purdey that less than 8% of their guns were produced in 16 gauge and those in the know realize the 16 gauge is the best patterning small bore made. Weighing just 6lbs. 2oz. it carries like a twenty and hits like a 12! What a fine antique London Best for your shooting needs and investment opportunity.
