REMINGTON 870 WINGMASTER 12 GA
Description: Guns Listing ID: 571706 Psj009112-OSS Comes with soft case The Remington 870 Wingmaster is a classic—and many hunters and shotgun enthusiasts would say iconic—pump-action shotgun valued for its build quality, reliability, and traditional aesthetics. It combines rugged performance with refined finish work, making it both a utilitarian tool and a collector’s favorite. Design & Build At its heart, the Wingmaster shares much of its mechanical layout with the broader Remington 870 family. It is a pump-action shotgun with twin action bars for smooth operation and positive chambering and ejection. The receiver is machined from solid steel billet, lending durability and giving it weight and heft. What distinguishes the Wingmaster from some of the “entry" or utilitarian English and Express versions is its high-polish blued finish, full-gloss American walnut stock & forearm, high gloss or highly polished metalwork, and often a vent-rib barrel or ribbed/light contour barrel with RemChoke compatibility. These features lend it elegance and a more “finished" look. Specifications & Variants Here are some typical specs: Spec Typical Value Gauge / Bore options Mostly 12 Gauge, also 20 Gauge, .410, etc. Chamber lengths Common-length 2¾\" and 3" shells. Barrel lengths Often long—26" to 28" barrels are very common. Also versions with 25" (for .410) etc. Overall length Around 48½" for the 28" barrel version. Weight Approximately 6¾ to 7 lbs (empty) in the heavier 12-ga models with longer barrels. Capacity Tube magazine, often 4+1 rounds in many Wingmaster configurations. (Tube holds 4 plus one in chamber) Balance & “Pointing": Because of its long barrel and classic shotgun geometry, the Wingmaster tends to “point naturally," meaning shooters often report that it tracks well on targets and feels balanced despite its size. Recoil: Heavy, long barreled 12 ga shotguns have noticeable recoil when fired, though the mass of the Wingmaster helps to dampen the perceived kick somewhat. Using appropriate loads mitigates this. Versatility: With its vent rib and full-length barrel versions, it‚s well suited for upland game, sport/target shooting, and even waterfowl and dove where size is less a concern and smooth swing and follow-through count. Shorter barreled versions are less common in the Wingmaster line but exist in the broader 870 family for tactical or home defense roles. Advantages & Trade-Offs Pros: Classic craftsmanship: wood furniture, polished blue finish, quality steel parts. Durability: The solid steel receiver, twin action bars, and well-engineered parts make it serviceable over many decades. Aesthetic & collector appeal: As one of the more premium 870 models, Wingmasters often hold value well, especially older ones in good condition. Reliability: The 870‘s reputation is built on working even in rough conditions. Cons: Size & weight make it less ideal for lightweight carry, tight spaces, or applications where a shorter, lighter shotgun is really needed. Cost: Because of the premium materials and finish, Wingmasters are more expensive than the “Express" or non-wood/low finish 870s. Maintenance: High gloss wood and polished metal require care to maintain—wood needs protection from weather, metal from moisture and rust. In summary, the Remington 870 Wingmaster is a premium, traditional version of one of America’s most trusted pump-action shotguns. It excels when function, durability, and classic styling are all priorities SOLD Manufacturer: REMINGTON Model: 870 WINGMASTER Condition: Used - Non-Certified Barrels: 23.9" BARREL Action: PUMP ACTION Gauge Info: 12 GA Finish: black |
