Remington Model 870 Field Wingmaster 16 gauge 25.5” High Gloss Blue Excellent Condition
Description: The classic Remington 870 is one of the most popular pump-action shotguns ever manufactured and is also one of the most produced shotguns in history, with over 11 million produced. Even today, it is still in production. It was introduced in 1950 to replace the Models 29 and 31 and was an immediate hit. Remington firearms can generally be dated by their barrel code, which consists of the two letters stamped on the barrel closest to the receiver. The first letter indicates the month and the second indicates the year of manufacture. The nearby number is the assembly number. The first letter is appears to be the letter “R”. The second is the letter “W”. Thusly, this 870 was produced in November of 2002. Had it been made in 1972 (the previous year to use the letter “W”), the shotgun would have had a matte finish instead. The barrel uses Rem chokes – improved cylinder in this case. Improved cylinder choke is perfect for use against targets in the range of 30-40 yards away. At the 40 yard distance, 55% of the shot should fit inside a 30-inch circle for the shot pattern to be considered effective, whether it be against clay target or a game bird. There is currently a plug in the magazine tube which reduces the magazine capacity to two in the tube and one in the chamber. There are few if any signs of wear. There is one small scratch on the upper right side of the receiver and a small bit of wear on the same side near the loading port. Otherwise, the finish is at roughly 98 percent. The bore is bright with no rust or pitting present. Internally, the action and bolt are in excellent shape. Both shell latches exhibit light micro pitting. This should not affect the gun in any way. Overall, this 870 is in fantastic shape and should serve its new owner very well for many years. SOLD Shotgun Gauge: 16 Gauge Manufacturer: Remington Arms Co.
