Spectacular Remington Model 32, 2-Barrel Set
Description: SPF! Elaborately engraved and signed by Jean Marie Debrus Remington Model 32, 2-barrel set. Made in 1936. Debrus was employed by FN as a Luxury Arms Master Engraver and his work appears on many Midas and Diana-grade Brownings. The original barrels are 30 inches long with 2 3/4 inch chambers, full and full chokes, a raised, solid, filed rib, white Bradley front sight and white mid bead. There are beautiful wedges of scroll at the breech end. Barrel bluing is excellent as are the bores, with some orange peel effect near the breech end. The second set of Remington barrels were later fitted to the gun and stamped with the shotgun’s serial number. Barrel bluing is excellent, as are the bores. The barrels are 26 inches with 2 3/4 inch chambers, Skeet-in/Skeet-out chokes, a solid, raised, filed rib and a red Bradley front sight and white mid bead. There are matching wedges of scroll at the breech end. The stock is of black streaked exhibition-grade walnut, with small handling marks, a 14.5 inch LOP, DAC of 1.25 inches and DAH of 1.75 inches. Weight is 8 lbs, 3 oz with the 30 inch barrels. The 22 LPI checkering is extensive, well-executed and remains sharp. The gun is lavishly engraved with a setter watching snipe on the left side. The top latch is scroll engraved and stippled, as is the top strap. The right side features two ducks rising from a pond. The bottom has three pheasant. These are all surrounded by floral scenes. The forend iron is scroll engraved as well, as is the trigger guard, pins and screws. If only wood and metal could talk! The shotgun came out of the LA area and we can only guess what notable may have owned it. Or, why he sent it to one of FN’s engravers in Belgium for such extensive embellishment. The end product is an incredible work of art. Excellent condition. The gun is cased in a mahogany leather “Shotguns of Ulm” two-barrel case. Price is $Sold plus shipping. SOLD Curio/Relic: Yes |
