Description: 1920s mfg. REMINGTON ARMS M10 12 Gauge SLIDE ACTION Shotgun C&R GAME GETTER Post-World War I Era PUMP ACTION Sporting Gun Here we present a C&R Remington Arms/UMC Co. Model 10 Slide Action 12 Gauge Shotgun circa the late 1920s in Ilion, New York with a total production of 275,000 guns. The Remington Model 10 is a pump-action shotgun designed in 1908 by John Pedersen for Remington Arms, who John Moses Browning regarded as the “Greatest Gun Designer in the World”. Remington introduced the Model 10 slide action in 1910 as a “sporting” gun with production spanning between 1910 through 1929. They were all chambered in 12 gauge and came with either 32 inch barrels or a shortened 20 inch version. Unlike many other countries, the U.S. was never afraid to utilize shotguns in war. These were the guns we’ve all heard referred to as the “Trench” guns. The Model 10 was modified by reducing the barrel length to 23 inches and adding sling swivels, a wooden heat shield over the barrel, and an adapter with bayonet lug for affixing a M1917 bayonet. These trench guns with serial numbers between 128000 and 166000 were stamped with US and the flaming bomb insignia on the left side of the receiver. It has an internal striker within the bolt and a tube magazine which loaded and ejected from a port in the bottom of the receiver. An updated version, the Model 29, was introduced in 1930 with improvements made by C.C. Loomis, which preceded the Remington Model 31 slide action shotgun. Comb drop 1 3/8”. Heel drop 2 ½”.
