Remington 870 Wingmaster 12 ga 28” VR Mod Choke Made 1978
Description: The classic Remington 870 is one of the most popular pump-action shotguns ever manufactured and is also one of the most produced shotguns in history, with over 11 million produced. Even now, it is still produced. It was introduced in 1950 to replace the Models 29 and 31 and was an immediate hit. Using Remington barrel date code diagrams on google, the two letters on the barrel closest to the receiver indicate the month and year of manufacture. The number indicates the assembly number. The first letter is barely stamped but appears to be the letter “C”. The second is the letter “Q”. Thusly, this 870 was produced in April of 1978. The barrel has fixed choke – modified in this case. Modified choke is perfect for use against targets in the range of 30-40 yards away. Any current production 870 barrel with removable chokes could be used to replace the fixed choke barrel on this gun, so long as it is not intended for a Light Weight (LW or LT) or Magnum frame 870. There is currently a plug in the magazine tube which reduces the magazine capacity to two in the tube and one in the chamber. Naturally, removing the plug will bring the capacity back to the original 4+1. There are few signs of wear and usage on the surface as is shown in the pictures above, none of which affect the operation or reliability of the gun. The bore on the other hand is in excellent condition. It is shiny and smooth, with no rust or pitting - it’s clear that its previous owners understood the importance of keeping the bore clean. Internally, the action and bolt are in just as good a condition as the bore. Overall this 870 is in good condition. This Remington should serve its owner well and should continue to perform as it has since 1978. SOLD Manufacturer: Remington Arms Co.
