1943 WWII AERIAL GUNNER TRAINER REMINGTON Model 11 Shotgun 20” C&R 12ga JMB With U.S. FLAMING ORDNANCE BOMB Marked Receiver
Description: 1943 WWII AERIAL GUNNER TRAINER REMINGTON Model 11 Shotgun 20” C&R 12ga JMB With U.S. FLAMING ORDNANCE BOMB Marked Receiver Here we present a U.S. World War II Remington Model 11 Shotgun, with a “WMM” barrel marking indicating August 1943 production. Licensed manufacture of the design by John Moses Browning. At its inception, this shotgun became the first auto-loading shotgun to be produced in the United States. In 1911, the shotgun was named the “Remington Model 11” and roughly 850,000 guns went on to be sold all the way through 1947 with about 65,000 being produced during WW II. Initially, it was only available in 12 gauge chambering, though 16 and 20 gauge models came along during the years of 1931-1932. The Model 11 was one of the many shotguns used by American forces during World War II. During the conflict, U.S. Ordnance procured all manners of weaponry, and the United States was one of the few nations that went to war with the firepower of the combat shotgun, which included the “Remington Army Model 11” issued to both frontline combat and guardsmen for anti-riot and prisoner guarding duties. Others were used in training capacities as we believe this one was. Aerial gunners in training were taken out to shoot skeet with shotguns as this was an effective and reasonably inexpensive way to teach the gunners how to lead a target. The overall condition is very fine. Original blue finish. Ordnance wartime inspection marks. Excellent action. The bore is in very fine condition remaining mirror bright and smooth. Sharp forend checking has been preserved and the stock is solid. Legible markings. We believe that this shotgun originally had a Cutts compensator muzzle device for the skeet/aerial gunner training and that after it was sold as surplus after the war the Cutts was taken off in favor of thiw POWerPAC choke system. A fantastic piece with a very smooth action and great finish! This firearm is classified as a Curio & Relic. Barrel is 20 inches. Caliber: 12 Gauge Chamber: 2-3/4 inch. LOP: 13-3/4 inches. Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING. Will need to be sent to your local FFL or C&R licensee. This firearm is classified as a Curio & Relic. Guaranteed AUTHENTIC & Includes CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY. ancestryguns $2400 #228415 SOLD Curio/Relic: Yes |
