REMINGTON ARM CO. Model 11 SEMI-AUTOMATIC 12 Gauge Shotgun C&R
First Auto-Loading Shotgun Produced in the US
Description: REMINGTON ARM CO. Model 11 SEMI-AUTOMATIC 12 Gauge Shotgun C&R First Auto-Loading Shotgun Produced in the US Here we present a C&R Remington Model 11 Semi-Automatic Shotgun, manufactured in 1909 in Ilion, New York. John Moses Browning, one of the most famous American gunmakers, had his popular shotgun and rifle designs licensed exclusively with Winchester during the late 1800s. Having developed a new shotgun that would become widely successful in the “Browning Auto 5”, he attempted to have a royalty based fee system based on sales. Winchester didn’t buy in, so Browning took his work to Remington Arms. Remington agreed to manufacture the Auto-5 shotgun under the name of “Remington Autoloading Shotgun” in 1906. At its inception, it became the first auto loading shotgun to be produced in the United States. In 1911, the shotgun was renamed to the “Remington Model 11” and roughly 850,000 examples went on to be sold until 1947. It initially came equipped as a 12 gauge, though 16 and 20 gauge guns eventually came about in 1931-1932. The receiver sported nicely rounded edges and an integral pistol grip. The magazine housing held up to 5 shells. The overall condition is good. Some original blue finish with a gray patina. The action is excellent. The bore is bright and smooth. There is a short split at the rear of the left side of the forearm. There is a tiny split off the top tang and the buttplate has a large chip. Own the original! This firearm is classified as a Curio & Relic. Barrel is 28 inches. Caliber: 12 Gauge Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING. Will need to be sent to your local FFL or C&R licensee. This firearm is classified as a Curio & Relic.
