An outstanding example of Italian gunmaking, this F.lli Gamba Model St. Vincent Special, manufactured in 1969, represents the craftsmanship that established F.lli Gamba among Italy's premier makers of fine sporting arms. Built as a best-quality sidelock, this shotgun features exquisitely executed tight Churchill-style scroll engraving by the renowned master engraver Poli, whose signature appears on the gun.
The beautifully figured walnut stock is finished in traditional hand-rubbed oil and complements the elegant engraving perfectly. The action is fitted with back-action sidelocks, Southgate ejectors, cocking indicators, a single selective trigger, and a manual safety. Additional upscale details include the pierced top lever, Gold Crown Coat of Arms, elegant beavertail forend, and a hand-filed tapered rib.
Mechanically, the gun is excellent. It is tight on face, with no loose ribs, no cracks in the wood, and virtually no appreciable wear, reflecting careful ownership throughout its life.
The barrels feature mirror-bright bores measuring .726". Chokes are Improved Modified (.030") in the right barrel and Full (.040") in the left, making the gun well suited for pheasant, waterfowl, sporting clays, or traditional upland shooting.
