V. Sarasqueta 16 Ga. – SIDELOCK STUNNING WOOD DELUXE MODEL
Description: General Specs: Victor Sarasqueta, 1962, 16 Gauge, 6lbs. 6oz., Chokes SK/LM, LOP 14 1/8", DAH 2 3/4", DAC 1 3/8" Serial Number: 146196 Victor Sarasqueta from Eibar, Spain began in 1883 and operated for a century producing fine side x side shotguns and rifles modeled after British BEST guns. Victor Sarasqueta sidelock guns are well known as superior guns sold at affordable prices. There were other “Sarasqueta” makers based in Spain, but the VICTOR SARASQUETA guns were the premium guns under that name. In fact, in 1902 Victor Sarasqueta was awarded a Royal Warrant as purveyor of guns to the King of Spain, a very high honor indeed. This gun, (a Model 8E?) built in 1961, is a full hand-detachable sidelock hand engraved with open banknote style engraving. This is not the rudimentary Spanish engraving encountered on lesser guns. A close look at the photos will reveal engraving as good as any of its style. This gun, sn146196, was built as a fine upland gun with 26” barrels choked SK/LM. Still in amazing condition, the action retains 65% factory case color, the engraving is clear and sharp, the mechanics superb with crisp trigger pulls, articulating front trigger, strong well-timed ejectors, excellent screws, auto safety functioning as designed. The lock up is extra strong with double underlug bites with a hidden third bite. The finely struck chopper lump barrels have tight ribs, mirror shiny bores, 2 ¾” chambers, and 98% factory blue. The wood-to-metal fit is excellent all around, the fine 28lpi checkering sharp and damage free, the drop points well defined, the diamond shaped wrist is elegant, and the English style grip is just plain classy. The wood is near exhibition quality Turkish walnut with a hand-rubbed oil finish showing normal field marks. This gun has been very well cared for and maintained in its 64 years of existence. We stripped the action and forend iron, Ultrasonic cleaned and scrubbed all parts to shiny metal, inspected all for integrity and function, lubricated and reassembled, providing you a VFI CERTIFIED GUN, a $450 service in our shop. VFI CERTIFIED GUNS have a 90-day mechanical warranty. The Victor Sarasqueta is an incredible value in a BEST QUALITY SIDELOCK EJECTOR GUN. You just can’t touch a gun of this quality and class for anywhere near the price. The workmanship and quality of the mechanics are notably superior to lesser guns at well under half the cost of a like British maker. At 6 pounds 6 ounces and balanced 1/8” forward of the hinge pin, it is a dynamic gun capable of the heaviest modern loads for fowl, upland game, or sporting clays. We can alter stock dimensions within a few days of purchase if you need. We do the very best leather covered pads if you prefer that premium mount, stick, and looks of a Purdey style pigskin covered pad. At the price of this gun, you can afford the added niceties if you choose. THIS GUN NEEDS NOTHING BUT A NEW HOME…IT IS READY FOR ANOTHER 100 YEARS. See the specifications below. Thanks for looking!
