Description: J.P. SAUER & SON HAMMER DRILLING 16GA. BY 16GA. BY 9.3x72 COMBINATION GUN, CIRCA 1903. Exeptional original condition having never been refinished in any way. Still has it's original horn buttplate extending through it's 14 1/4" length of pull up to it's double triggers. Front adjustable trigger also works the rifle barrel which is actuated away from the shotgun barrels via a top lever in between hammers. Left side-lever opens breech. Flip up (flush mount) tang sight has screw type elevator peep as well as barrel rib mounted flip up V notch sight. Traces of original case colors in recesses along with crisp scroll and border engraving still crisp as day it was cut. Screws unturned. Tight on face and original hammers with NO play in them. Original wood is excellent with crisp checkering, steel pistol grip cap and original horn buttplate. Cheekrest typical. 26 3/4" fluid steel barrels with original blue at 95%. Shotgun bores are very good with rifle barrel having crisp lands and grooves. Solid rib checkered. Crisp barrel address "J.P. Sauer & Sohn, Suhl"(one line on each barrel. Also stamped "Fluss-Stahl" on left and "Krupp-Essen" on right. Chambered for 2 3/4" and choked Skeet/IC. Made for the European market and in exceptional condition for one of these.
