VERY INTERESTING HIGH GRADE PAIR OF J P SAUER DOUBLE BARREL 12 GAUGE SHOTGUNS
Description: These guns were made for Ernest Louis. He was the last Grand Duke of Hesse-Darmstadt. There is a lot to do with his heritage. Very interesting pair of guns that are nearly identical. One was made in 1895. The other one was made in 1915. Both have those dates inlaid on a gold plaque in the stock with the crown and initials "EL". One has a little longer stock. A really fantastic pair of guns with ejectors. One has a gold inlaid number "1" on top of the opening lever. That one is choked Full and Mod with a 13-3/4 inch LOP. The gold inlaid number "2" is choked Full and Imp with a 14-1/2 LOP. Both have straight grip Circassian walnut stocks. Finely checkered. Very elaborately engraved with delicate scroll work. Both have double triggers and nitro proofed barrels. Both are hammerless. These are probably the highest grade JP Sauer's that I have encountered.
