This is a used, excellent condition, RARE Savage/Fox Model B Side by Side shotgun chambered for 2 1/2 or 3 inch .410 Gauge cartridges.
This mint condition example has a case colored receiver with the name "FOX" engraved within a banner on both sides of the receiver. Enclosed in an oval on the bottom of the receiver is a stylized depiction of a fox's face.
The 26" barrels are choked full/full and have a vented rib with silver front and mid beads. This double gun has the Westfield, Mass address on the barrels. The bores are bright and shiny. There are no pits, dings, dents or walnuts. This boxlock SxS is equipped with a tang mounted automatic safety and double triggers.
The case coloring on the receiver shows no sign of fading. The blued barrels are unblemished. Overall, we rate this gun at 99%+.
The select grade American Black Walnut stocks are of the pistol grip type with a fluted comb. A black plastic butt plate completes the shoulder stock. The graceful pistol grip is fitted with a black plastic grip cap. The forend is also of select grade American Black walnut. A touch of elegance is added by the Fleur-de-lis accented pressed checkering on the pistol grip and the bottom of the forend. This semi-fancy wood is in excellent condition.
The length of pull to the front trigger is 14 3/8 inches. The drop comb is 1 5/8 inches. The drop heel is 2 3/4 inches. This gun has beautiful lines and handles like a dream with excellent balance.

Introduced by Savage to capitalize on the name recognition and popularity of their recently purchased A.H. Fox Company, the Fox Model B is an upscale version of Steven's established 311 side by side. The resulting firearm, which was released for sale in 1940, was a long lived model that stayed in production until 1988.
All Fox Model B shotguns are side-by-side box locks of a simplified Anson & Deely type with a single underbolt and a Scott spindle top lever to open the action. Coil springs are used throughout. The result is a somewhat bulky but very durable action that seldom malfunctions or needs repair. These guns were solid performers in their day and they still are. The sides and bottom of the frame are decorated by a simple etched "engraving" pattern.
This is not a slim, lightweight double gun built on the British pattern. Rather it is a solid American gun designed to shoot heavy American style shells and it has the weight and heft to do so with relative comfort.
Select grade American Black walnut stocks and forends with a glossy finish and elaborate press checkering was standard. These are short tang guns and a through bolt retains the stock. The forend is held in place by a self-adjusting spring tension latch that does not loosen with use.
Mechanically sound and in working condition. However, as buyers are responsible for their own safety, we strongly recommend that any and all used firearms should always be checked by a competent gunsmith before you consider firing them.

HARD TO FIND .410 BORE!
This is a used, excellent condition, RARE Savage/Fox Model B Side by Side shotgun chambered for 2 1/2 or 3 inch .410 Gauge cartridges.
This mint condition example has a case colored receiver with the name "FOX" engraved within a banner on both sides of the receiver. Enclosed in an oval on the bottom of the receiver is a stylized depiction of a fox's face.
The 26" barrels are choked full/full and have a vented rib with silver front and mid beads. This double gun has the Westfield, Mass address on the barrels. The bores are bright and shiny. There are no pits, dings, dents or walnuts. This boxlock SxS is equipped with a tang mounted automatic safety and double triggers.
The case coloring on the receiver shows no sign of fading. The blued barrels are unblemished. Overall, we rate this gun at 99%+.
The select grade American Black Walnut stocks are of the pistol grip type with a fluted comb. A black plastic butt plate completes the shoulder stock. The graceful pistol grip is fitted with a black plastic grip cap. The forend is also of select grade American Black walnut. A touch of elegance is added by the Fleur-de-lis accented pressed checkering on the pistol grip and the bottom of the forend. This semi-fancy wood is in excellent condition.
The length of pull to the front trigger is 14 3/8 inches. The drop comb is 1 5/8 inches. The drop heel is 2 3/4 inches. This gun has beautiful lines and handles like a dream with excellent balance.
The date code (V) indicates date of manufacture as 1968. No serial number indicates date of manufacture as before Oct. 22, 1968.
