Turn of the Century Import from Belgium

Here we present a Belgian “Machine Made” Double Barrel Side by Side Hammerless Shotgun, likely made circa the early to mid-1900s in Liege, Belgium for import to the United States. Several Belgian companies made and imported many shotguns to American hardware stores, mail-order houses such as Sears & Roebuck, and gun shops in the United States between 1893 and 1914. This would have been primarily a sporting firearm designed for hunting fowl or taken out on a Saturday afternoon for a little skeet shooting!

This one is marked “MACHINE MADE” perhaps to distinguish between those guns that were made by hand and suggest that they were made with greater precision.
The action is strong. The barrels have matured to a brown patina. Both bores are smooth and in good shape. The checkering at the wrist is a nice feature and contains expected handling wear. The stock is solid. Here is a nice piece for display above the mantle!
