Cut down & coverted to percussion.W. Richards SxS Shotgun
Description:
Is this a brutal prison guards cut down shotgun or something modified for a “prison break”? It has a brass label on the side of the frame marked (COLORADO TERRITORIAL PRISON CANON CITY COLO,). It has pistol grip type stock and a barrel forearm that have been completely hand carved.
It is a side-by-side double barrel with steel twist barrels, and overall length of 18 inches.
The exposed hammers function as they should. This is from 1883 to 1894. Condition, totally functional. Barrels cut to about 10 inches.
It has a tight lockup and was likely cut down to keep it hidden. The original maker is W Richards.
Yes, it is legal to own! It has been totally disabled as a cartridge shotgun, and is now usable only a MUZZLE LOADING CONVERSION.
That means it has no legal length restrictions. Perfect for a re-enactor, for blank loads or just fun shooting. Uses the 209 shotgun primer.
This is a BLACKPOWDER ONLY gun. DO NOT USE SMOKELESS POWDER. Or just use the primer as a blank for performances.
This would be ideal as a vintage display with collectable prison regalia. The action lock up is as tight.
The stock has no cracks, breaks or chips, and the stock is strong and stable. It weighs a little over 5 lbs. No loading components are included.
This is a muzzle loader and can be shipped directly to you in the USA and INTERNATIONALLY. Adult signature required. Sold as an Antique ~ no guarantees, warranties, or liabilities for any actual usage.
