J.P. Clabrough Bros. Double Barrel -12GA. antique
Description: J.P. Clabrough Bros. -- 12 GA. antique Double Barrel Shotgun. A renowned Birmingham gun-making firm, which was in operation both in England and in California in the 70's & 80's. This particular piece was manufactured in the late 1880’s. The barrels are 30 inch with a 14 inch LOP. “The barrel rib is engraved J P Clabrough & Bros. London Fine Damascus” while both locks are engraved J P Clabrough & Bros. Profusely engraved with English scroll on the locks, frame and trigger guard. The gun carries Birmingham proofs on the frame and barrels and has double underlugs. The serial number 233 appears on the frame, and both barrels. The side locks are nicely engraved with different game scenes and both hammers are engraved and match. As to condition, the barrels show a nice even gray/ brown Damascus pattern. The bores are bright antique very good to excellent with typical black powder frosting. 12 GA choked full and modified. Side locks show mostly grey coloring. Forend wood is a replacement, but matches the stock perfectly. The butt stock has had a well executed restoration with no indication of any repair. The butt-plate is a work of art in its self and shows no damage. This is an ANTIQUE and can be shipped directly to you in the USA. We do ship antique arms INTERNATIONALLY.
