Belgian FOLDING 410 Bore “OLD POACHERS” Double Barrel HAMMER Shotgun C&R
SIDE x SIDE Gun Carried Under One’s Coat!
Description: Belgian FOLDING 410 Bore “OLD POACHERS” Double Barrel HAMMER Shotgun C&R SIDE x SIDE Gun Carried Under One’s Coat! Here Ancestry Guns presents a C&R Belgian “Old Poachers” Double Barrel 410 Bore Side by Side Shotgun, made circa the turn of the 20th Century in Belgium. This is a nice example of the traditional “Old Poachers” folding .410 Shotgun from Belgium. Almost exclusively made in Belgium with no makers names, these have the reputation of being the traditional poachers gun as they fold in half. And as such, very easy to carry under a long jacket whilst walking down a country road or a woodland and bagging the odd pheasant or two that also went under the coat for the walk home! The .410 shotgun, often touted as a “beginner’s gun” because of its attractiveness to young shooters, is usually lightweight with thin patterns and doesn’t deliver a big charge which could potentially scare away a young shooter. The origins of the .410 go back to the end of the nineteenth century, when farmers shot birds and small game to feed their families. There wasn’t any wing shooting involved here, just pop them wherever they were and take ‘em home for mom to cook. This example has been refinished. The overall condition is good. Strong action. Bright and smooth bores. Sharp markings. The stock and forend are solid with light checkering. A thin, stable crack or two are present around the tangs. The forend has been shortened or is a replacement. Liege proofed barrel and frame. This firearm is classified as a Curio & Relic. Barrel is 27-3/4 inches. Caliber: 410 Bore Chambers: 3 inches Chokes: Cylinder/Full LOP: 14-1/2 inches Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING. Will need to be sent to your local FFL or C&R licensee. This firearm is classified as a Curio & Relic. Guaranteed AUTHENTIC & Includes CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY. $1200 #259959 SOLD Curio/Relic: Yes |
