303E 16 GAUGE 2 BARREL SET WITH CASE - SN. 3234x.
Cal 16ga.
Proved May 1954.
Bbl Set 1: is 28" Bohler Steel, 2-3/4" chambers, with slightly raised matted ventilated rib with two white beads. Breech ends of bris with relief shaded scroll engraved and "GEBURDER MERKLE / SUHL on left and retailer marked «W. GLASER - WAFFEN / ZURICH" on right. Bottom tube with proof marks and SN stamped. Min. Wall Thickness: .027 (B) .033(T). Bore Diameter: .669(B) .667 (T). Bore Restriction: .021(B) .022(T).

Bbl Set 2: same as Set 1 except 25-5/8" in length and proved October of 1960. Min. Wall Thickness: .028(Both). Bore Diameter: .667 (Both). Bore Restriction: 003(B) .005(T).
Both sets of brls fitted for 3 piece forearm which is checkered in point pattern and has fully engraved irons with polished interior.
Coin finished hand detachable full sidelock action is beautifully full coverage floral scroll relief engraved with hidden key lock. Polished cocking indicators. Bottom of receiver engraved in banner "GEBRUDER MERKEL / SUHL". Top lever is blued and near full coverage engraved. Top tang with scroll engraving and relief panel "S" in front of the knurled safety slide.

The blued long tang trigger guard is engraved en suite with relief scroll engraving.
Crossbolt double under-lug locking mechanism
Nice European Walnut stock that is checkered in multi-point pattern through the wrist, has panel behind long tang trigger guard and terminates with a brown full leather covered pad.
Small brass oval on the toe line with initials "G.B." engraved.
Cased in the retailer supplied full leather brass appointed two brl set case with green felt interior and retailer trade label on top. Case with spare spring, snap caps and oil bottle enclosed.

CONDITION: Excellent as lightly field used. Both brl sets with about 97% original blue remaining. Forearm is excellent and sound with crisp checkering. Receiver is excellent with nearly all of its original coin finish remaining and only minor staining noted. Screws appear near perfect and the gun does not appear to have seen much use. Buttstock is excellent and sound with only very minor impressions and retains nearly all of its original finish. Pad is an excellent aging replacement. Bores are brilliant and shiny. Mechanics are crisp. Case is very good to excellent with some scrapes and rubs.

Gentlemen, The Model 303E with hand detachable locks is the top of the line production model and this gun is quite beautiful.
