Up for is a G.L Rasch shotgun, these beautiful shotguns were made pre WW2 in a small factory in Germany. During the war the factory was importunely bombed and never built again, from what can be found these guns were only produced from 1822 – 1944. These guns were highly sought after for their intricate engraving on the receivers, their ornate trigger guards and their beautiful walnut stocks. These guns were purchased by royal family members during that time period. All of the guns made by them are true one of a kind and works of art
This gun is “Nitro” proofed, which means it was produced between 1940-1944, please look at all pictures for all proof marks. The Barrels measure 29 ½ “ and are 16 Ga, there is some wear on the bluing and pitting on the right barrel, the bores on both barrels are in excellent condition with no rust or pitting. Both Barrels are engraved G.L Rasch, although some of the engraving is worn. The receiver is in great shape and locks up tight, the entire receiver is engraved and has a patina finish. The trigger guard appear to be made out of some type of horn or plastic and has a small piece of engraved metal on the inside of it. The stock is in good condition for the age, the walnut is checkered, and is missing a rear sling swivel missing. The buttplate is an engraved metal and has some patina. The forend is in average shape, the finish is worn and wont stay onto the gun, appears to be missing a spring or something similar to keep it locked on the gun. Overall condition of gun is in good condition for the age and is definitely a true work of art, this gun would make a great piece for a collector of rare shotguns.
