Antique N.R. Davis & Sons Double Hammer Damascus 12 GA Case Color
Description:
Serial #1896, 12 GA (2 3/4"), 29 7/8" Damascus barrels with slightly shortened, fine bright bores having some small pits in both barrels and slight dings in the right tube choked about modified in both tubes. This is a N.R. Davis and Sons double shotgun with external hammers and top lever open. In very fine condition the barrels are a mostly muted brown to silver-grey with the fine Damascus pattern very visible with patches of freckling missing the mid-rib and front beads. The receiver has light scroll engraving with “N.R. DAVIS and SONS" on both side plates covered in perhaps 55-60% of the original case color with the trigger guard mostly in the white. The walnut stock and forearm are near excellent with a repaired chip below the left side plate along with numerous old scratches and use marks consistent with a gun of this age. The original fancy Davis grip cap and butt plate are present and in excellent condition. All numbered parts are matching and correct to the gun. The barrels are very slightly off face and lock up is tight with lever resting just left of center and the rebounding hammers cock and fire with a crisp trigger pull. A great N.R. Davis that would be fun to shoot with the proper low pressure loads. Antique
