c1887 mfr. Antique COLT Model 1878 12 Gauge Side by Side HAMMER SHOTGUN SxS Scarce, Early Colt Double Barrel Shotgun
Description: c1887 mfr. Antique COLT Model 1878 12 Gauge Side by Side HAMMER SHOTGUN SxS Scarce, Early Colt Double Barrel Shotgun Here we present an antique Colt Model 1878 Double Barrel Hammer Shotgun, manufactured in Hartford, Connecticut in 1887. The Model 1878 was made from 1878 to 1889, with approximately 22,683 guns manufactured. These double barrel shotguns were an exposed hammer double gun that competed closely with high-end Parkers. The Colt Model 1878 Double-Barrel Hammer Shotgun is considered to be, if not the finest, one of the finest American double-barrel shotguns ever made. The Model 1878 Shotgun was the highest priced item in the Colt line and was available in almost any grade as a special-order item. This double trigger shotgun is a 12-gauge solid rib with 32-inch barrels. According to one source, “the Model 1878 Hammer Gun ranks among the best grade doubles produced in the entire American arms trade. The limited number completed and the great pains devoted to handling specific orders from often fussy shooters means that a considerable degree of quality and variety is evident in the Model 1878 series.” The overall condition is good+. The iron parts have a dark patina throughout. The bores has some visible shallow pitting and they have been polished bright. The barrels have some little dings throughout. The actions are both excellent. The walnut stock is in good condition. The fore end wood has been sanded and deeply checkered. Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction. Barrels are 32 inches. Caliber: 12 Gauge Chambers: 2-1/2 inch Length of pull: 14-1/8 inches. Chokes: Full/Full Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING WORLDWIDE. Delivered directly to your door by express mail! Guaranteed AUTHENTIC & Includes CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY. ancestryguns $1375 #215186 SOLD Antique: Yes |
