1982 Vintage Ruger Red Label 20 Gauge Shotgun w/ 26" Inch Barrels Choked IC/Mod
** Beautiful Early Production Blued 20 Gauge! **
Description: This Ruger Red Label was manufactured in 1982 when receivers were blued steel rather than the later production stainless steel. It has 26" inch barrels with a ventilated rib choked "Improved Cylinder" and "Modified", with 3" inch chambers capable of handling magnum shells and steel shot waterfowl loads (This is great as most of the early production guns are choked "Skeet" and "Skeet"). The stock on this Red Label has a 14.5" inch length of pull over a Pachmayr "White Line" recoil pad, and also has automatic ejectors and a single-selectable trigger. The condition of this Ruger is excellent, retaining 99% of the original factory gloss blue finish. The bores in both barrels are pristine, mirror-bright with no dents, bulges, pitting, or imperfections of any kind. The factory checkered American Walnut stock set is excellent overall. The checkered panels are still crisp and clean, and both the forearm and buttstock are free from any cracks, chips, or repairs. The only deductions come from some very minor handling/storage marks in the wood and the non-factory recoil pad. The mechanics of this Red Label are superb. The action is perfectly "on face" and locks up tight with zero play. This gun has been fired VERY little and has not even been broken-in yet. As you can see from the pictures, with the action closed the top lever still sits way to the right of the tang safety which is where it starts on a brand-new gun. As the gun is shot more and more and the action is opened and closed repeatedly the lever will start to work to the other side of the safety over time, indicating that the locking blocks are worn and need servicing. This Ruger still has more than 99% of it's service life remaining before it will need the locking blocks serviced. These Ruger Red Label shotguns have become an American classic, and are certainly one of the best American-made production over and unders ever made. If you have been looking for a all-original and exceptional Red Label for your collection this 1982 model would be an excellent choice. It would be nearly impossible to upgrade from this one!
