Fox XE 12 Gauge – 28” #4 WT, 70% FACTORY CASE COLOR, 6LBS. 15OZ., vintage firearms inc
Description: General Specs: Fox, Year 1921, 12 Gauge, 6lbs 15oz, Chokes M/F Serial Number: 25849 The A.H. Fox XE Grade is truly one of the most handsome American doubles ever produced, with its deeply carved oak leaves, delicate bird and dog scenes engraved on the receiver and barrel wedges, long elegant forend with the buffalo horn inlay cut to a slight Schnabel tip, rebated frames to keep the head of the stock from spreading, delightful fancy checkering on nicely figured Circassian walnut stocks, all coming together to make a stunning double shotgun. The XE Grade Fox came standard with ejectors and a Silvers pad, and special attention was paid to the chambers, bores, and chokes to create a highly-refined shooting machine. This 1921 vintage gun, sn25849, was engraved during what most Fox nuts believe to be the period of the very best engraving. The engraving is crisp, sharp, and clear with exceptional attention to details and back shading. The pad, barrel length, stock, and chokes, are as shipped from the factory. THIS GUN IS A VERY HARD TO FIND, UNMOLESTED FOX XE, as found and ready for another several generations of shooting. Finding a Fox XE that hasn't been "messed with" and still has perfect screws, perfect wood to metal fit, and 70% vivid factory case color is becoming a thing of the past. Weighing in at 6lbs. 15oz. and balanced perfectly 3/16” forward of the hinge pin, the gun has very desirable shooting dimensions of 14 1/4” x 2 5/8” x 1 ½” x 3/16” cast off. This fine Philadelphia Fox has it all…light weight for your upland hunts, condition not often found, rarity, and desirable features coming together to make for a very fine, investment quality firearm that will increase in value as you enjoy its use.
