Description: CENTRAL ARMS CO. / SHAPLEIGH HARDWARE Double Barrel SxS HAMMER Shotgun C&R Made for SHAPLEIGH HARDWARE of SAINT LOUIS Here we present a C&R Central Arms Company Double Barrel Side by Side Shotgun made circa the early 1900s. Central Arms Company is a "Trade Brand Name" used by the Shapleigh Hardware Company of St. Louis, Missouri a wholesale sporting goods dealer on shotguns made for them by the Crescent Firearms Company of Norwich, CT (1892 to 1930+), the W.H. Davenport Arms Company also located in Norwich, Connecticut (1875 to 1910), and the Stevens Arms & Tool Company of Chicopee Falls, Massachusetts (1864 to 1916). This would have been primarily a sporting firearm designed for hunting small game and fowl. The overall condition is near fine. Original blue finish and case colors. The actions are excellent. The bores are smooth and bright. Solid lock up. The stock shows use and remains solid throughout. Numbers match. This firearm is classified as a Curio & Relic. Barrels are 30 inches.
