Description: SALZBURG, AUSTRIAN Antique Josef SIEGEL 16 Gauge Combination Rifle/Shotgun Effectively Hunt Fowl or Four Legs with One Firearm! Here we present an antique Josef Siegel Side by Side Combination Rifle & Shotgun in 11x60mm Mauser and 16 Gauge, manufactured circa the late 1880s in Salzburg, Austria. The hunter would use the rifled barrel to fire precise shots against large game and the smooth side could be loaded with a large ball or slug for a quick follow up shot or the smooth bore could be loaded with shot to make it feasible to hunt fowl at the same time without carrying multiple guns. This gun has two hammers and two triggers to allow either barrel to be fired as needed. This double gun is clearly a quality piece. It locks up tight and the actions are crisp. Back action locks. The rifle’s trigger is a single set trigger that can be engaged by pushing it forward to provide an even crisper, lighter trigger pull. The shotgun barrel is Damascus twist while the rifle is fluid steel. There is a front sight mounted in between the barrels on the rib. The rear sight is an express type with a solid first leaf and a flip up second leaf for extended ranges for the rifle. There are sling swivels mounted under the barrel and the butt stock. The stock is hand-checkered and the pistol grip is capped in horn. Steel butt plate and trigger guard. The left side of the butt stock has a generous cheek rest. Under-frame lever swivels to tip the barrels down, exposing the breech for loading and unloading. Extractor. The overall condition is near fine. Original finish. Damascene pattern well-preserved. The actions are excellent. The bores are bright and in great shape for age. The stock shows use and remains solid. Imagine hunting the Alps around Salzburg with this! Own the original!
