PATENT BREECH LOADING HAMMERLESS GUN – EJECTOR”. 30 in. Sir Joseph Whitworh steel barrels Birmingham nitro reproof of 3 tons per square in. per the 1954 British Rules of Proof, 2 ½ in. chambers, bores cylinder and quarter choked, striker disk, Beesley’s patent No. 425 of 1884 assisted-opening front action, best fine acanthus scroll engraving, brushed bright action with blued bottom plate. All done very nicely. Beautiful well figured stock 14 ½’ length of pull, DC – 1 ½” & DH – 2 ½’, ¼” cast-off, nice 22 lpe checkering, pistolgrip stock with steel grip cap, fore-end wood has a nonstructural hairline crack. Weight 6lb 10oz. Whitworh barrels bore dia. 0.733 right & 0.731 left and wall thickness 0.025 both. Serial number 6734 (1892). These guns normally sell for $5000 to 9,000.This gun was reproofed in 1956 to 3 tons because the original 1892 proof was for black powder only. The previous owner used 2 ¾” 2 ¾ dram loads which normally run from 8600 to about 10000.
