Offered here for sale and just acquired is this extremely attractive English percussion shotgun which was marketed by the well-known American retailer Hollis & Hollis of Philadelphia.

30" barrels. Exquisite profuse engraving overall on metal parts. Engraved serpent heads on hammers. Damascus barrels showing wear and fading but still there. Original ramrod. Checkered pistol grip and fore arm. Length of pull approximately 14". One narrow sliver of wood on one side above lockplate expertly restored and does not detract from its overall beauty.
Regarding the name Hollis in 19th-century firearms traces back to Isaac Hollis & Sons, Birmingham, England . They were part of the massive Birmingham gun trade—the industrial heart of British gunmaking. Active from early–mid 1800s into early 1900s  they produced everything from modest working guns to nicely engraved sporting arms and  exported to markets worldwide, including America.
Birmingham firms frequently made guns “in the white” (unfinished)  and sold them through retailers who stamped their own names on them.
What is very evident is that is a high end English-made (Birmingham) shotgun circa 1845–1865 retailed or marketed through a Philadelphia dealer using the “Hollis & Hollis” name. It has elaborate engraving,decorative hammer design, damascus barrels ,pistol grip and original ramrod. Overall condition is fine with all metal a grey patina without any rust or pitting with the exception of a small patch of rust on the buttplate across the botton screw on heel. Also a loose slight sliver of wood around one lockplate that was expertly repaired.by our gunsmith. We feel that this does not detract from its overall appearance.  A very fine sporting shotgun with American markings.
