GOLD Inlaid Engraved ENGLISH Double Barrel Shotgun
Description: GOLD Inlaid Engraved ENGLISH Double Barrel Shotgun STAG SCENE w LONG LONDON TWIST Barrel, Cap Trap Here we present an antique English Double Barrel Percussion Shotgun, made by Perkins of England, circa 1850. For centuries England has been known for its fine shotguns, especially those of certain makers known as “Best” Makers of guns. It has become a tradition. Names like Westley Richards & Co., James Purdey & Sons, as well as Manton and Egg became legendary even in their own day. They were the best of the best in style, quality and refinement, and they developed names and advertising to match. There were a host of other, lesser known makers though, who were able to compete and make quality shotguns in their own right for both the domestic market and for export. Everyone needs a shotgun, right? Some were more willing to pay the premium price tag than others. This example is marked “Perkins” on each lock plate, the top of the barrel rib is nicely engraved with a stag deer hunting scene along with a large scroll around the marking “LONDON FINE TWIST”, a gilt arrow is present at the muzzle, and Birmingham proofs are on the bottom of the barrels. “H&S” was likely the barrel maker. The overall condition is fine. The Twist barrels are patinated a deep brown. The gold inlay at the breech and the muzzle are 95% present. The markings are all clear and legible. The stock is in very good condition, very solid. The bores are in very good condition and the action is fine. Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction. Barrel is 40 inches in length. Caliber: 10 gauge Bore is in very good condition and the action is fine. Overall condition as seen in photos. Another very nice English double from Ancestry Guns! Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING WORLDWIDE. Delivered directly to your door by express mail! Guaranteed AUTHENTIC & Includes CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY. ancestryguns $1200 #10354 SOLD Antique: Yes |
