This is a gun for the MUSEUM -or- the most serious COLLECTOR since it was the very first of any ( ANY ) to feature: BARREL COCKING --and-- SELECTIVE AUTOMATIC EJECTORS --- Both INVENTED & PATENTED by this Joseph Vernon Needham.
This highest graded gun No. 4971 was made in 1883/1884 and is only the 10th one made in the series of Cannon Street guns
which ran from Ser. No. 4961-to- 5121.
Soon after, W.W. Greener - who was always on the lookout for new and better systems -- acquired J. V. Needham in 1874.
