John Dickson Round Action Triggerplate, circa 1891, 12 bore, 2 3/4" chambers, 28" invisibly sleeved barrels done in England in 1991 and reproved at 850 BAR, 70mm chambers, choked .005 Skt. and .019 Mod., original concave smooth game rib engraved "John Dickson & Son, 63 Princes Street, Edinburgh", rib extension with 3rd bite, 6 lbs. 9 oz., 14 3/4" LOP over leather pad, 1 1/2" DAC, 2 1/4" DAH, neutral cast, finely detailed full coverage English scroll engraving by Sumner with "John Dickson & Son" in a banner on sides of action, assisted opening, straight grip, splinter forend, double triggers, original ejector model showing two screws on side of action, gold stock oval with "O" engraved, very nicely figured walnut, originally no. 2 of a pair with "2" on toplever, rib, and trigger guard extension, "2" gold inlay in forend wood, automatic safety with "SAFE" in gold, gold pop-up cocking indicators on each side of top lever, patent use number "289" on action water table making it the 289th round action made. Condition: very good barrel black and stock oil finish, action engraving nice and sharp, a little softening of engraving on trigger guard extension, rib engraving soft but readible, action tight and on face, checkering crisp, barrel bores and walls excellent with .035 wall thickness in both and bores after sleeving left slightly undersized at .724 in both. A nice condition gun that has been well cared for. Qualifies as a pre-1898 antique circa 1891 gun number 4323. Comes with a period leather case with reproduction maker's label.
