The quintessential British infantry musket of the Napoleonic Wars, War of 1812, and Latin American Wars of Independence. This is the classic 3rd Model / India Pattern (1797–1815 production) – over 3 million were made, and the pattern became so ubiquitous that surplus guns were sold throughout the Americas, including large contracts to Mexico in the 1820s–1830s. Identical in every respect to the famous “Brown Bess” carried at Waterloo, New Orleans, and by both sides in Texas’ fight for independence. The Royal Cypher “GR” lock, swan-neck cock, and brass furniture are all correct and original. The absence of East India Company markings confirms this is the military Tower contract version rather than the later commercial India Pattern. Condition Highlights:
