WILLIAM CASHMORE DOUBLE 12 GAUGE SHOTGUN VERY SIMILAR TO ANNIE OAKLEY’S CASHMORE SHOTGUNS CIRCA 1880’S. Serial number 5979. Best quality box lock extractor gun with gold plated double triggers and “W. CASHMORE” inlaid in gold on both sides off the frame. 28” barrels with 2 ½” chambers and choked modified and modified. Weight 6 pounds. 1 ½’, 2 ¼” drop. 13 ¾” pull over old rubber pad and spacer. Very finely done English scroll engraved frame and mounts. Checkered semi-pistol grip fancy walnut stock with checkered side panels and forend. Silver shield shaped monogram escutcheon, with monogram removed, unusually placed at the heal of the comb as in the fashion of Annie Oakley’s two other known Cashmore guns. Serial number 9270. Very good plus and all original with the pad contemporary to the period of use. Barrels with even blue mixed with patina. Beautiful crisp engraving on the frame and mounts. Stock and forend with the original patinated finish. Excellent bores and fine working order. Five Cashmore guns were made for Annie, two of which are known. Is this possibly a third. The records do not exist to our knowledge and the similarities are enough to speculate and research further.
