Description: British H. BARRELL Marked 12 Gauge Double Barrel SxS HAMMER Shotgun C&R BEAUTIFULLY ENGRAVED English Fowling Piece! Here we present a C&R H. Barrell Side by Side Double Barrel Hammer Shotgun, made circa the turn of the century likely in Birmingham, England. Birmingham was the epicenter for English gunmaking all the way through and continuing after the turn of the century. This is an English fowling piece that is elegant in its simplicity and practicality. This double barrel hammer gun would have been used primarily for putting game on the table or defending one’s home. This fine double was proofed in both black powder and Nitro for 2 ½” shells. Birmingham proofs. The overall condition is nearing fine. Strong, tight action. Bright, smooth bore. The stock is excellent with nice checkering. The stock has been lengthened and the extension features a nice grain with serrations at the rear. The engravings remain deep and in fine shape! Damascus twist barrels with nice pattern. A very nice piece! This firearm is classified as a Curio & Relic. Barrels are 30-1/4 inches.
