I AM IN THE PROCESS OF LIQUIDATING MY 50+ YEAR ANTIQUE FIREARMS COLLECTION. I HAVE A C.B. VAUGHAN 12 BORE BOXLOCK SXS SPORTING GUN * CASED SN 20251. 29 3/4 inch Damascus barrels with etched pattern. Smooth game rib. Case hardened boxlock action with extensive fine scroll panels. Extractors. Automatic safety. Greener style cross bolt. Checkered straight grip stock of figured walnut. Vacant silver oval. Checkered pull off splinter for end with horn tip. Later leather trimmed, green canvas trunk case with green baize interior with maker's leather label.
CONDITON: Good. Well defined pattern with a silver patina. Bright bores with areas of pitting. Action shows silver patina. Wood light handling scratches. Checkering is pattern only. Barrels have a bull ring. Barrels/action show looseness. Case in very good condition.
Barrels dimensions: Bore: 0.726/0.713 inches. Chokes: 0.00 /0.012 inches. Chambers: 2 1/2 inches. Proof: Birmingham Black Powder 14/1, 14/1. The chambers and bores have been open to 12 ga and the gun is out of proof. Stock dimensions: Pull: 14 3/8 inches. Drop at comb: 1 3/4 inches. Drop at heel: 2 3/8 inches. Weight: 6lbs 9oz.
