E J Churchill Imperial Grade
Description: E J Churchill London Gunmaker. Wonderful example of the ultimate Grouse & Phesant upland shotgun. Serial #4080. Made between the years 1929 and 1930, considered by some to be the golden age of gun making in London. Sporting 12ga. 25" XXV Churchill barrels choked IC/CYL. Automatic ejectors and a period single selective miller trigger. Chambers have been lengthened to 2 3/4" Bores are bright and shiny, action is tight. Side plate action showing detailed full coverage scroll engraving. Although not signed Harry Kell did most of the in house engraving during that time period. I believe the pattern to be the imperial grade. Nicely figured English Walnut stocks with a 14 5/8 LOP and neutral cast. Overall metal and wood finish are excellent for it's 90 +years. Barrels appear to have been re blackened decades ago. There is a well done round repair to the top comb near the recoil pad. Overall this is a beautiful example of a 6lb 6oz upland game gun $13,500. The Hardy case in the pictures is not for sale and not included in this sale. Shipping and insurance is to be determined.
