Description: Engraved COGSWELL & HARRISON Avant Tout BOXLOCK SXS HAMMERLESS Shotgun C&R Double Barrel 12 Gauge Shotgun with EJECTORS! Here we present a Cogswell & Harrison Avant Tout (meaning “Above all Others”) Boxlock Double Barrel Side by Side Hammerless Shotgun, made circa 1897 to 1914 in London, England. Cogswell & Harrison was established in May 1770 and is London’s oldest surviving gun maker. Over the years, Cogswell & Harrison has manufactured a quite diverse range of sporting shotguns and rifles during its long history. In 2008 the company was purchased by the Brennan family, the proprietors of Ardee Sports Company. This shotgun features ejectors as well as an intricately engraved frame. The overall condition is near fine. Nicely refinished. The actions are excellent. The bores are bright and smooth. The left buttstock has some scratches in a concentrated area, otherwise the finish on the stock shines. A gorgeous shotgun out of London! This firearm is classified as a Curio & Relic.
