12-gauge boxlock game gun with 28" blacked round nitro proved barrels that are fitted with ejectors, a tapered smooth concave game rib and a steel bead front sight. The rib is roll-marked "J. VENABLES & SON. 99. ST. ALDATES. OXFORD.". Proved for 2-1/2" cartridges and choked modified & full. The trace coin finished action body with blacked cover plate is adorned with game scene vignettes with supporting fine English Arabesque scrolls. The left side of the action body is engraved with two pheasants in woodlands, the right side of the action body is engraved with four partridges in a field, while the bottom has a dog with a duck in its mouth. Both sides of the action body are engraved "J. VENABLES & SON". The action is fitted with double triggers, blacked and engraved top lever with the left side of the thumbpiece checkered and automatic safety with gold-inlaid "SAFE" ahead of the scored and lightly engraved safety slide. Best quality walnut stock with straight hand grip, drop points, point-pattern checkering with borders, vacant stock oval and similarly checkered splinter fore-end with Anson style push-button release and engraved escutcheon and center diamond. 14-3/8" LOP to a checkered butt, 6 Lbs. - 5-1/4 Oz.
