Purdey best sidelock 12 ga. 28" SxS
Description: Purdey best 12 gauge sidelock hammerless ejector gun. Originally built as one of a pair of guns in 1909 this Purdey as “adjusted and stock lengthened in 1931; then in 1970 a new set of barrels was fitted. The new barrels are 28” long with 2 3/4” chambers and choked Mod/Full; a new forearm was fitted at the same time. Factory letter accompanies the gun. This gun is spectacular; not that it is in perfect condition but rather that is has been used and beautifully maintained and retains 97-98% original finishes. It just looks and handles exactly like you would dream it to be. The extraordinarily beautiful straight grip stock has a 14 ½” LOP to the checkered butt, 1 ½” DAC and 2 ½” DAH with less than a ¼” right hand cast. Features: Double triggers, assisted opening, splinter forearm. The gun weighs 6 lbs. 13 oz. and balances between the hands. The chokes measure .015” and .035” just as built and the wall retain the original .729 bores and minimum walls of .035” It comes with a newer, very handsome oak and leather luggage case with canvas cover and the inside of the lid has a Purdey case label. As I mentioned the gun is not perfect cosmetically as there are some very light handling marks in the wood and even a very fine scratch on the barrel blue, but the finishes are stunning and this is a gun that you can take out, shoot and enjoy forever.
